(Translated by Google) This was a restaurant recommended in reviews as a favorite among Japanese diners. I made a reservation the day before, but the next day at lunchtime I mistakenly went to a different Kichijoji restaurant. I almost gave up, but thankfully I persevered and quickly ran to the correct one. It was packed with Japanese people!
The reason I chose this restaurant is because I don't particularly like teppanyaki. I prefer a set meal served individually or in sequence, which is the style at Kichijoji.
The menu had many kinds of meat, all of which I photographed. I chose the 160-gram set meal for almost 9000 yen. The Kobe beef was actually very good for this price range—delicate and not greasy. Two hours later, I ate at another Kobe beef bento restaurant that Japanese people love to queue for, which shows that even the greasiness wasn't unpleasant.
After the food arrived, the staff even brought out an award plaque for me to take a photo with. It was very cute. The staff also took photos of me with the food, which was a very nice touch for a solo traveler.
When you leave, you'll receive a signed card from the service manager, certifying that you've eaten authentic Kobe beef—a very thoughtful touch.
I thought it was great, and I'd definitely take a friend there next time I'm in Kobe.
