Not worth the price—overpriced compared to our fantastic tender & reasonably priced wagyu at Steak Otsuka in Kyoto earlier on this trip. Here, we ordered the 190g premium set of “tender red meat”, sirloin, and ribeye (about 19.5 oz total, shared between two of us) for ¥45000 ($300 USD). Comes with salad, Kobe beef soup, and ~4 pieces of grilled veggies (zucchini, sweet potato, mushroom, lotus root). Had enough for leftovers; should’ve gotten the 120g set to share instead.
No wait when we walked in for 2 at 12pm. Staff is kind but service was slow. 3 chefs serving 4 parties total. Multiple tables were kept waiting 10-15 min for bowls of rice, which is odd. We requested a bowl of rice to enjoy with our steak too, but it took too long so we cancelled it. The “tender red meat” that they warn is “tough” might as well be a conventional flank steak; I don’t know why they bother to have it on the menu if it’s going to be chewy.
We were suspicious of the glowing 5 star reviews when we sat down and our hunch was right.
