Overrated and not worthy of the “Kobe beef” name
This was my first visit to Kobe. Based on the 4.8 rating, I chose this restaurant for lunch with my parents and children (7 people in total). Our total bill exceeded 200,000 JPY. Unfortunately, the experience was far below the standard of a high-end Kobe beef restaurant.
Service and basic management were disappointing:
Soup bowls were served with visible water stains
During serving, a staff member pushed our chopsticks onto the floor
Paper towels in the restroom ran out and were not replaced for a long time
These are not details one should see at this price point.
More importantly, the beef itself was unacceptable.
We ordered the Filet, but the meat was tough, full of sinew, and badly overcooked. It was dry and extremely difficult to chew. We had to spit it out.
This is not a matter of personal taste. High-quality Kobe beef is known for its tenderness and melt-in-the-mouth texture. That is an objective standard.
I raised this issue on the spot and asked the chef to taste it himself. Even after tasting, another chef insisted there was no problem and claimed that “this is how Kobe beef is.”
That response was more disappointing than the poor execution itself.
Photos of the chef, receipt, and the unchewable beef are attached.
I am writing this review only to provide an honest reference for future guests.
A high rating does not equal professional quality. Based on our visit, this restaurant does not justify its price, reputation, or the name of Kobe beef.
神戸牛として、この品質と対応は非常に残念です。
価格と評価に見合っていないと感じました。
