Not sure if this is just one of those Japanese quirks, but I sat down with a bottle of water and one sip left of a fruit juice that I had just purchased from another store about 100 feet away. The staff freaked out and told me I couldn't consume the drink or even my bottled water at their store. They literally made me step 5 steps away from the counter to finish the last sip of my drink. It was very uncomfortable. I got dirty looks for the rest of the meal, like I committed a crime. Beware, if you are a foreigner!
