We went to a restaurant for our last night in Osaka, expecting a special steak dinner. We ordered the best, priciest steak on the menu but received meat that didn't match the description. When questioned, the chef and head chef seemed unsure of the meat's quality. The service was poor, and the overall experience was disappointing. We ended up paying a high price for a subpar meal, unlike the quality food we enjoyed elsewhere in Japan.

Unfortunate last dinner in Japan. After having spent 2 incredible weeks in Japan, with every single meal eaten (even random meals at small town street vendors) being a culinary experience, this has let me and my family down in all aspects. As this was our special last night, we made sure to order multiple good cuts of the restaurants supposed high quality kobe beef. After one of us made the mistake of asking if all the meat was wagyu (because the fillet clearly had 0 marbling) the table was rewarded with dismissive laughter and a condescending remark that this is kobe which is wagyu. The ribeye and sirloin had thick fat strands with none of the high quality marbling I had gotten used to seeing in japan. We all chose to trust the expert at this point and moved on just to be surprised at the cooking style to follow. The steak was seared for about 5 seconds on each side and 4 plastic bags with chopped veggies were chucked on the cooking surface and started bubbling. Meanwhile we were given some wagyu sushi which was undercooked, chewy and flavourless. When we did receive our tepanyaki grilled meat I was surprised that the meat was a mix of rare/medium-rare and not medium as we had requested (although this had not been inquired about by the chef). Me, being the introvert I am, just swallowed these pieces but my unlucky companions got snide remarks when they asked for their meat to be cooked a bit more. Throughout the meal we were told how to eat the meat, which sauce to use, which may have been well meant but ended up feeling a bit much as I felt i couldnt use the sauces I wanted to, but had to follow the instructions from the chef on how to dip or not dip the meat. To finish we got some soup (boiled water with small meat chunks floating) and some rice which was decent to be fair. In all honesty the salad entre was nice, with good sauce. This disappointment cost over 700 pounds. Miss this restaurant for the love of kobe beef.

100% tourist trap...we fell for it, so you don't have to. In short, we (family of 4) ended up with a bill of 150,000 yen (~700GBP) for (genuinely) the most disappointing meal we have had in Japan during this visit. Went to have our final wagyu dinner in Japan on our last night here and left feeling borderline scammed. We were lurred in by good google reviews, but these customers either had a different chef or were so 'wowed' by the fact that they were eating Kobe Beef for the first time that their expectations were incredibly low for Japanese teppanyaki. I realise this sounds arrogant, but honestly, any streetside restaurant/izakaya/grill or JBBQ has better quality food at a significantly better price point - and Japan's fine dining restaurants/grills will blow this place out of the water. I can not express enough how disappointing this was. We were served by Taninaga, who was incredibly rushed and sloppy in the way he lovelessly cooked our food, dropping salad leaves and flicking around pieces of meat without any of the attention to detail we've come to expect (and adore) from Japanese Teppanyaki. To be fair, chefs serving other customers looked as though they were taking more care and time preparing the food. Our chef cooked everything at a much too high temperature, which led to our meat being seared on the outside and almost raw inside (despite requesting for medium - he did not ask) and our garlic rice being full of burnt bits. He pushed us repeatedly to order the chateaubriand (most expensive cut at 100k yen/ 500gbp per 300g) - we settled for the premium cut selection and a premium fillet cut and some wagyu tataki sushi. As you can see from the picture the fillet (far right) was not marbled at all, when we asked to confirm whether it was all wagyu he laughed and dismissed the question. The meat sushi was almost raw and tough, the vegetables were cooked (and served!) Inside plastic bags (see picture), and the steaks were underdone and disappointing. This place seems to show off the fact that they serve premium Kobe wagyu at every opportunity, but the meat was nowhere near what we have had countless times all over Japan - and ended up being about 2 to 4 times the price. Do not spend your money here, you can do much better!

After two amazing weeks in Japan, the dinner was supposed to be our final highlight. We have visited Japan from Hokkaido to Kyushu on 3 seperate occasions and are big fans of Japanese food and hospitality. This place however is a tourist trap from start to finish. The meat is questionably Kobe beef, no marbeling, flavor and bite was not even close to past experiences. The Teppanyaki chef Taninaga was lackluster and and at times patronizing. The food was the biggest dissapointment, poorly executed Teppanyaki style cooking, flavorless vegetables boiled in a plastic bag, miserable beef nigiri, the draft beer was the highlight of the evening. The price of 140.000 Yen almost triggered a stroke, what a waste of time and money. The four of us left frustrated and with a feeling of certainty that we had been conned. There are amazing food places in Osaka, give this one a miss...
