Chef name: Geetu
First time trying Kobe beef, decided to come to this place cause of their good reviews. This place is located on the 2nd floor, about 10mins walk from Sannomiya station.
When we walked in, we were greeted by the staff. The place was quiet and cool, a huge contrast from the bustling city.
We were sat down and the chef, Geetu, explained the different cuts of beef that they offered. She was patient and professional, and throughout the meal, described the different ways to eat the Kobe beef. I was thoroughly impressed by her cooking and pace, and we didn’t feel pressured or rushed to finish (a common feeling from other places).
We decided to get the cheapest item and the premium Sirloin. The Sirloin was extremely tender, almost melt in your mouth texture. However, I think we had extremely high expectations, and ultimate felt that while the beef was buttery and “one of a kind”, it fell short of how initial expectations of it. While no fault of the restaurant, this caused us to feel slightly underwhelmed.
The other cut of beef was tougher, almost like a chuck loin, and it tasted more like normal US beef. You pay for what you get.
The garlic fried rice is a must get, extremely worth the additional 1000 yen. Very flavourful!
Overall, the atmosphere and staff were amazing, I would highly recommend if you’re in the area to try Kobe beef here. Taste wise, while I’ve given 4 stars, it’s worth noting that any other restaurant would have probably gotten the same rating, so do manage your expectations, especially if you want to have a good experience.
