I saw this restaurant with a booth outside selling what was said to be kobe beef, was rejected to the restaurant so I ordered two sets of premium dishes from the booth, one is the premium Kobe sushi and the other, Kobe sirloin. Upon eating, I notice a distinct differences in the Kobe I had eaten at other restaurants, this was the only time I had trouble chewing due to the tough textures and uncleaned elastin.
It is highly likely that this restaurant was not using Kobe beef and/or parts that was promised. It cost about 12000yen for these 2 dishes and it was extremely expensive and did not taste at all like Kobe beef.
This is no doubt, one of my worse experience with japan’s dining. I have come to realize that Dotonbori consists of mostly tourist traps.
