I had to try authentic Kobe beef while in Japan, so I visited Kobe Beef Wanomiya in Dotonbori—and it did not disappoint. I ordered the 120g sirloin set with rice, miso soup, and, of course, a cold beer. Chef G. Kumari prepared my steak right in front of me and was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The way they cook the steak is thoughtful—they grill and serve half first, letting the other half rest. Once you finish the first, they sear the second half for perfect doneness. On the side, you get sliced garlic, miso for the grilled veggies, freshly grated wasabi, and dipping sauces like vinegar and onion. They guide you through trying different flavor combinations so you get to enjoy the steak in several ways. It’s a premium experience and totally worth the splurge. A must-try for beef lovers in Osaka!
