Worst meal in Japan.
For somewhere charging at least ¥35,000 for a fillet steak, the experience was all wrong.
Our servers (yes, you get two):
- Did not know not to serve Bourgogne chilled
- Did not know the difference between a screw top and cork wine bottle. Watching them try to unscrew a bottle with a cork was excruciating
- Did not understand not to serve food before drinks arrived. Again, for an expensive steak this is not ok
- Served the wine in Fever Tree gin glasses. Come on.
- Overcooked the beef (again, at least ¥19,000 a steak, one steak was ¥35,000)
- Then would not stop overcooking the beef for at least a minute after it was done. A total shambles.
It was a total mess. Unfortunately that is a result of untrained staff, put in an unfair position.
I paid the whole bill (¥65000), but would strongly recommend that no one else goes unless they rectify these issues.
In the interests of fairness, I explained all of the above to the staff during the meal. A free dessert was offered and refused.
