Quick summary: DO NOT GO for your first Kobe experience.
It feels like money has been taken out of your pocket, I would certainly call this a tourist trap. It definitely made me feel like I was ripped off and that Kobe beef is just a marketing ploy. This is hands down the worst dining experience I've had in Japan and an extremely disappointing experience. I would insist you look elsewhere for a Kobe experience as this is not the place to go.
The place looks nice but they insist on placing awards from 10 years ago on your table for photos. If you do go, give it a quick internet search and see that they aren't exactly awards. Form you own opinions.
It was my first Kobe beef experience so I was excited. We ordered two types of steak. One was lean the other not. One overcooked and the other cooked well. The lean was actually terrible and chewy. The fattier cut was not too bad I thought, but after actually having some good beef afterwards I realise was average at best. Granted we didn't choose the most expensive cuts on the menu, the price they had on the menu commanded a much better quality meat.
As I didn't have a basis to compare I wasn't able to properly tell if it was up to scratch. After having good Wagyu and Kobe I can hand in heart say this place was terrible.
