Very disappointing meat. After exceptional Omi beef and devine generic Wagyu beef (street vendor) in and near Kyoto, I was really excited for this meal.
We had non-premium Kobe (3000 approx. 80g) and premium Kobe (15000 approx. 165g) to see the difference. The former was chewey and unimpressive, the latter was clearly better, but no where near the quality of the cheaper Omi and generic Wagyu mentioned. I would describe it as fairly tasty, but not 15000 tasty.
The set meal with two preparations of beef were interesting, and tasty, but again, not special for the price (3000 approx. with rice and salad).
The service was extremely rushed. I hadn"t finished my salad and they were putting the next course on the table. It's great if you have to catch a train I suppose.
Japan has been quality every step of the way thus far and I really thought this would live up to that. I know eating Kobe in Kobe is incredibly touristy, but I thought "it's Japan not London". However, I feel I've been truly 'Aberdeen Angus'ed.
