(Translated by Google) Located near Sannomiya Station in Kobe, a 5-10 minute walk away, this restaurant is highly recommended. They offer beef ranging from 20,000-30,000 yen to 5,000-6,000 yen, differing mainly in cut, marbling, and weight. Don't worry about not speaking Japanese; on the day I visited, there were staff who spoke Chinese and a Japanese chef who spoke English. Upon entering, they'll help you hang your coat at the entrance. After you sit down, they'll offer you a hot towel to wipe your hands before presenting you with a menu and explaining the different types and textures of beef. It's suggested to go with at least two people so you can order different cuts to share. The chef will adjust the cooking time according to your eating pace, so you won't have to worry about eating cold beef. Fresh wasabi, fried garlic slices, miso sauce, and salt are provided for dipping, as are sauces for vegetables and meat, but it's recommended to start with the plain cuts.
The appetizer was a black sesame salad – very appetizing. The Kobe beef sushi was just okay in my opinion, costing 600 yen. The texture wasn't as satisfying as eating tuna or salmon directly, and the fish was cheaper anyway. It was more about the flavor (this is a friend's comment on the sushi). After the appetizers came the main courses and the Kobe beef steak. My friend and I went together and chose two different cuts, eating them four times in total. The rice wasn't served until after the second round. I'm not sure if they wanted us to enjoy the meat's natural flavor first, but the beef's rich marbling, combined with fresh wasabi to cut the richness and the salt to enhance the flavor, was simply heavenly with a bite of rice. Because I love fried garlic so much, I asked the chef for it several times, so he always asked if I wanted some before picking it up 😂.
However, the chef's eyesight isn't very good, and he often uses up the meat. Please don't mind. It seems that before 2 PM, they offer a complimentary rice and lettuce set meal.
I highly recommend upgrading the white rice to fried rice (500 yen). The fried rice uses the leftover pork fat from the Wagyu beef; it sounds amazing!
Before we left, the waiter told us that we could get a 5% discount if we shared the review on Dianping (a Chinese review platform). You should definitely give it a try!
