Weird vibes from this place as others have mentioned. We arrived and were ushered upstairs - presumably the same establishment based on other reviews (although it sounds like you may end up in another restaurant on the street). This felt odd to be coerced into a different entrance to the one we were entering.
Realising the price for the premium wagyu, we asked to sit in the downstairs restaurant as we had originally intended. The staff didn’t protest and from other reviews it is clear others have also got up and left.
We ordered the lunch menu, which we knew was not wagyu but was still a relatively high price point for the quality of food we received. We were disappointed as the beef was quite chewy. This was the second “tier” on the menu, served on a bed of rice and with a salad + soup that were not all that nice.
Service was also not friendly and the ambience was severely lacking.
The bottom line: if you’re dining upstairs for the premium wagyu teppanyaki, I don’t doubt you’ll have a good experience based on other reviewers, though I am sure there will be better places in the area. However, the downstairs option is absolutely not worth the money in our opinion.
I felt compelled to write this review as unfortunately this was our worst dining experience on our 3 week trip in Japan, especially considering the venue in terms of its value - our bill was ¥4,500 per head for a pretty poor meal.
